Bullitt Hotel
As a full-time resident of the city, I haven’t stayed over in many of our hotels - but this is one of the few where I have. A relative of mine holds the best birthday and new year parties, and several of those parties have been in the Taylor & Clay restaurant downstairs, with overnight accommodation provided. So I feel I can tell you about here first hand, and on my three visits to sleep there, have really enjoyed it for it’s relatively budget-friendly rooms and quality of what if offers.
The hotel lobby, reception and bar. The interior is a striking example of industrial‑chic design within a repurposed mid‑century office block.
The Bullitt is owned by the hospitality group behind the 5-star luxury Merchant Hotel, which I’ve written about here. This clout behind it, means they know exactly how things work when it comes to looking after guests, and they are good at it. This hotel explains their “no-nonsense philosophy means we’ve ditched the over-the-top extras so that we can deliver a quality service with no hidden costs, smack bang in the middle of Belfast City Centre” and that I guess sums it all up. The rooms are small, but perfectly clean and comfy - and for a long-weekend with little entourage in tow, they are fine. There is no wardrobe for example and the dinky rooms are really just a bed (a very comfy one) and a spotless bathroom. If you’re ok with that, this will suit you down to the ground. Location cannot be any better, it’s right in the city and surrounded (even on the premises) with some excellent restaurants, bars, nightlife etc.
As a local, I often am found in the lobby bar having coffee, or in the main hotel restaurant. The rooftop bar is open to the public and also houses a fabulous restaurant called Tetto - https://bullitthotel.com/eat-drink/tetto/#restaurant-bar It’s a gorgeous, almost forgotten secret. It’s a perfect place to perch on a Saturday or Sunday.
Anyway back to the rooms, they come in three of four size groups. Dinky (mine), Comfy next one up, Roomy (way bigger) and them there is a giant room which I’ve been in and it’s cool.
Rooms have a snug double (likely “Dinky” or “Comfy”) with textured grey quilt, patterned cushions, a modern floor lamp, and a bold photographic prints
